What is quantum about it?

A qubit, the basic unit of a quantum computer, can be in a mix of 0 and 1 at the same time. Only when you measure it does it "collapse" to one answer, and nature itself decides which, truly at random. We borrowed the idea for fun: every reading here is a superposition until you touch it.

The randomness is real, though. Each draw uses your browser's cryptographic random number generator, and when it is available we mix in numbers from the quantum random number generator at the Australian National University, which measures the noise of the vacuum. Each result tells you which source it used. What the cards, orbs and numbers mean is old tradition and our own writing, not physics. Quantum mechanics does not predict your love life.

Questions about the fortune teller

Is this fortune teller free?

Yes. Every reading on QubitFate is free, with no sign-up. The site is paid for by advertising.

How does the online fortune teller work?

You choose what is on your mind, add your name and birthday if you like, and touch three orbs. Each fortune is put together at random from openings, turns and pieces of advice written for that area of life, plus a lucky number, colour, day and tarot card.

Is it real quantum randomness?

When the quantum source at the Australian National University is reachable, yes: its vacuum-noise numbers are mixed into your draw. Otherwise your device's cryptographic randomness is used. The result always says which.

Can a fortune teller really predict the future?

No. Nobody has ever shown that fortune telling predicts anything. Treat it as a mirror or a conversation starter: the advice is meant to be good advice anyway.

For fun. QubitFate is entertainment. Readings are random draws and traditional symbolism, not predictions, and not medical, legal, financial or psychological advice. Please make real decisions with real information. Full disclaimer
